The most successful manager of Hall Green United suddenly and sadly passed away on the 31 october 2006 at the age of 46. Sam, who took up the position of first team manager in the summer of 2005, was a charismatic person who inspired the players and was loved by all at Hall Green. His early death is a sad loss to all who knew him and our thoughts at this sad time are with his partner Diane.

Formed in June 1969 (following the demise of Hall Green Athletic Football Club) this football club has gone from strength to strength with successes at all levels aided by a constant supply of quality players from Hall Green United Junior Football Club.

Starting in the Barnsley & District FA they moved after three years to the Wakefield & District FA and then onto the West Riding County Amateur Football League in 1982-83.

Season 2005-06 just gone will be remembered as the most successful in their history winning three trophies, The West Riding County Amateur Division One Championship title, Wakefield & District Challenge Cup and the Wakefield & District Open Cup.
